The Red Crown is the second book of the Shadow Prince series. When Rayne makes the decision to return to Cinterra and leave her realm behind, she brings with her someone who will forever change the Shadow Kingdom. Red is Rayne's longtime best friend who dropped everything to join her. From the moment Red pushes her luggage through the portal, she shows her lofty aspirations. Her eyes are set on the throne and she won't stop there.
Rayne and Nick are happy to be reunited and excited about what the future has in store for them as they plan the rest of their lives. But when Red asserts herself in Rayne's brother's castle in The Flatlands, concern has them on high alert. After a sleepover and argument at Shard Mountain, Red returns to The Flatlands a new woman with extreme powers of her own. She has the men eating from her palm, including King Atimis of The Flatlands.
In the meantime, the Kilawig—mountainous creatures released by careless Shadow Princes on a mission which caused a cave-in—have ventured away from their prison in search of food. Meetal, the Yetibon son of the Chief, inadvertently leads them home and beyond. Overwhelming guilt sends him on a mission. When he learns of his father's condition, he risks it all to seek out the Bird-girl who let him out of his cage in the Nomad camp. He meets Liam, a skirt-chasing Shadow Prince who helps him jump from kingdom to kingdom until Liam eventually meets his match in the crimson-haired vixen, Red.
In a world of fantastic beasts, treacherous villains, hopeless romantics, magical powers, true love, and a cranky wizard, can heroes prevail?
