It's been a long while, my friends. A lot has happened. Much like what I thought would be reserved for a zombie apocalypse, we now divide time in conversation to, "Before the virus...".
My family spent 2020 like other families, apart. Luckily, my husband and I own our own business and we were suddenly "essential". Instead of staying home, we expanded our company. With our employees gone to hunker down, we invited my parents to come step in.
The blessing has been that we developed a bubble and were able to be around each other when many couldn't be together. Yes, we all did our two weeks after our positive test results, but we didn't lose anyone. The Lord is good! Personally, I still don't have my senses of taste and smell back 100%.
Yes, 2020 was a year of fear, but 2021 has been one of my worst years yet.
After he suffered a stroke, I lost my dad in March. A week after his funeral, my uncle died. Right after, my last blood-related uncle nearly blew himself up with his oxygen tank. Three weeks later, he was gone as well. Myself and my cousins on both my mom's side and my dad's side, all lost our dads within six weeks of each other. My family hid from covid-19 all of 2020, only to lose so much in 2021. I only pray that this year gets better from here on out for us all.
